With the 05/04/22 release, VEMA is now even better at preventing you from getting liquidated.
We do this by making it clear when liquidation is at a higher chance of happening through three main methods:
- Liquidation price in Monitoring screen details
- Liquidation level on charts
- Email notifications
Note: Some images below may have detail that is hard to make out on smaller screens due to the requirements of fitting a large amount of data into a screenshot, by right clicking the image and selecting "Open in new tab" you can get a larger version of the image you can zoom in and out on.
Liquidation price in Monitoring screen details:
Liquidation price now appears in the monitoring details, under Risk Details - Stop Loss.
Note: This value may appear as 0 or N/A in certain conditions, this is normal and nothing to be concerned about - it usually occurs when FTX doesn't give a liquidation price as you have sufficient margin in the sub-account in use to prevent liquidation completely.
Liquidation on chart:
Your liquidation level will now appear on your chart in the VEMA monitoring screen, only when liquidation moves within 15% of your stop loss - as a percentage of the stop loss percentage. Confused? I don't blame you, but hopefully these quick examples will make it clear.
We can see in the above screenshot, the stop loss is 1% from entry.
15% of 1% is 0.15% - so we should see the liquidation line on our charts as soon as liquidation moves within 0.15% of our stop loss. We can see liquidation is 0.14% from the stop loss, and so has appeared on our chart.
If we had a 3% stop loss, the liquidation would appear on the chart as soon as liquidation moved within 0.45% of the stop price (3% x 15% = 0.45%)
If we had a 2.36% stop loss, the liquidation would appear on the chart as soon as liquidation moved within 0.354% of the stop price (2.36% x 15% = 0.354%)
Your liquidation will also appear on the chart if it moves to the wrong side of the stop loss (above stop loss for longs, below for shorts) as shown here:
Finally we have what most VEMA positions should look like.
Liquidation is in risk details, but not appearing on the chart as it lies outside the 15% buffer zone:
Email Notifications:
To enable liquidation alert emails, head to the notifications section of the "My Account" page:
Note: This setting will be disabled by default, so if you'd like to receive these email alerts, make sure to enable the setting.
The liquidation alert emails will send every 15 minutes when BOTH price and liquidation are within 15% of your stop loss percentage from your stop loss price, as shown below:
This is designed to notify you of a potentially dangerous liquidation price, allowing you to head to VEMA and move your SL further from liquidation, close the position, or continue to monitor as you see fit.
